Eastend Life

By Admin - Posted on 04 February 2009

"East End Life is the council’s free weekly newspaper, which is distributed to more than 75,000 homes and businesses across the borough every week. Tower Hamlets was the first - and until recently the only - local authority to have a weekly paper, enabling us to keep residents up to date in an informal and accessible way on the work of the council.

Last year East End Life was awarded local authority publication of the year by the Institute of Public Relations. It also helped Tower Hamlets achieve Beacon Status for community cohesion in 2003 in recognition of its role to encourage communities to live and work together in the borough. It has been shortlisted three times for the CRE’s Race in the Media awards.

The paper includes a two-page Harmony section with stories in Bengali and Somali, the two main ethnic languages in the borough.

The editorial team is always keen to hear about the work and initiatives taking place within the community. If you think you have a story that could be featured in the paper, please get in touch with the team, whose contact details are below.
