50 girls get a 2hr self defence session
Following the success of February's Inspirational Muslim Women's Event, and as part of the celebrations for Women's Week, 50 girls from Little Ilford School in Newham, London received a jam packed two hour self-defence session during school hours on Wednesday 10th March 2010. The girls were treated to a series of fitness activities and basic self defence training. The one off session was delivered by two of the club's female coaches, which helped put the girls at ease, and they were soon getting stuck into learning valuable life skills and some serious pad work! Famida Noor Mahomed, who is the school's Engineering Club leader said of the day "I think it's really important that we try and get the girls to experience the different sports, and open up their minds to the possibilities. Learning valuable self-defence will also help build their confidence."
The feedback from the day has been positive, and we hope to return again soon!
