LBBD says bravo to two of our members!

London Borough of Barking and Dagenham recently honoured talented sports stars from the borough at the 2008 Sports Award at Castle Green on Saturday 29th November.

Present at this event were Kevin and Vinnie Mitchell, who are Dagenham-based boxing champions. They were joined by over 300 guests to celebrate the sporting achievements and success of teams and individuals throughout 2008.

The event was organised in partnership with the Council's Sports Development Unit and the Barking and Dagenham Sports Council, in recognition of the hard work of the borough's athletes.

There were 11 overall award winners amongst the impressive group of competitors, who were nominated by coaches, team-mates and friends. Among these winners were two of Kaizen Ryu Karate Do's dedicated members. Jack McAllister, who trains at our Dagenham Dojo won the Young Sports Person of the Year award, jointly with Anthony Hughes, who is an extremely dedicated gymnast. Vicky Phillips who also trains at the Dagenham Dojo, won the Jack Thomas Award for Services to Voluntary Sport.

To our young athletes, we too say bravo!!
