Kaizen Academy For Sports Development - "changing lives through sport"
So what is it all about?
Our resolute attitude and ethos for continual improvement has meant that as a club we are constantly seeking new ideas and ways to better ourselves, in and out of the dojo.
The Kaizen Academy for Sports Development is the result of that.
Everywhere you look you are bound to find many talented individuals, in all sorts of endeavour. In writing, sport, creative art etc. Some need nurturing, others are already there, and there are some others who just don’t get the opportunity to further their skills or have limited resources to do so.
The Kaizen Academy aims to provide an environment where people can have their chance to make something out of their martial arts aspirations, and helping in any way it can.
Its objects are; To advance in life and help the public at large in the interests of social welfare within the United Kingdom. We aim to do this through a number of ways, one of which is by harnessing the power of sport to change lives, and giving people opportunities to participate in sports, particularly martial arts. As well as providing support and activities which develop their skills, capacities and capabilities to enable them to participate in society as mature and responsible individuals.
Meet our supporters!
The Academy was launched in Summer 2008 , and we are fortunate and proud to have the Jack Petchey Foundation as our first supporter!
The Academy is part of their Achievement Award Scheme which aims to recognise “Extreme endeavour and to help young people to help themselves”. It has been supported by the Jack Petchey Foundation since July 2008.
Please follow the link below to read more about the extraordinary work of Jack Petchey OBE and his Foundation.
The Metropolitan Police in Tower Hamlets, are also our proud Supporters! They recognise the benefits of clubs like ours that encourages youngsters to engage in structured activities outside of school time.
This helps keep youngster out of gangs and off the streets, and the Club is happy to do its part in "Working together for a safer London".
Nationwide (South Kent Area Office), have also donated to the Kaizen Academy! We want to thank Annette Watson who helped us get intouch with Tracy Cannon who is Area Support Assistant - South Kent.

Students, families and friends!
Recently the Kaizen Academy hosted it's very first fundraising event; "Halloween Fright Night Fundraiser Party", which went down a treat! The event which was held in Dagenham, had guests from within Kaizen Ryu Karate Do, friends and families of students, and VIP guests from Black Belt International. All the staff on the night volunteered their services to make the night such a memorable occasion, leaving all those who attended hungry for more! Ticket and raffle sales along with a live auction contributed to the £650 that was raised from the evening. All of which came to fruitation because of generous donations from friends, families and local businesses. Many thanks again to:
Canary Wharf Group PLC, The David Beckham Academy, Dave Courtney OBE, Staples Store in Chadwell Heath, The Bexley Phone Shop, Mile End Perfume Shop, Kaizen Ryu Karate Do, Black Belt International, Kam and Co. and Stacey Boot.

Prints On Site
Andy Barnes of prints on site is an incredibly experienced photographer, and has a huge wealth of understanding when dealing with large events. He kindly donated monies to the Academy after an appearance at the Kaizen Cup Winter Finals 2009.
What our supporters have enabled us to do so far
Kaizen Academy is in it's early stages, we have only been running for a few months, and yet in that time, we have so far raised £5,562 (see the Kaizometer) worth of equipment and training aids across the classes in our London and Essex dojo. Furthermore, a series of summer programmes in 2009 across Tower Hamlets and Redbridge Boroughs for anyone between the ages of 11-19yrs old has also been given support.
The Jack Petchey Award Scheme has enabled us to "recognise the effort, endeavour and achievement of young people in a practical and positive way".

Finally, the support pledged by Canary Wharf Group, Redbridge CSPAN (with the support of Pro-Active East London Sport Unlimited) and East London Community Foundation, will be used to help a project that the Kaizen Academy is developing to enable us to further our aims and objects. Through a series of programmes across a number of boroughs; Tower Hamlets and Redbridge, by providing access to martial arts training to youngsters 11-19yrs in these boroughs.
Now what?
Here at The Kaizen Academy, our work has just started! We hope to bring to you other ways of improving your training and helping you in any way it can. Like paying or subsiding top level instructors to do a seminar for you, or helping the Club's National Squad get to competitions, and much more.
Of course all this would require more money however little or large!
So, please if you know anyone who would want to sponsor The Kaizen Academy then get in touch with either Sensei Marie or Tyrone Briscoe (Please see our contact page).
If you or your family want to donate some money to The Kaizen Academy then please get in touch with Sensei Marie on 07743 764234 or e-mail here.
